This 42-metre long bridge was to leap over six electrified railway tracks in 2007, and bring relief to the heavily congested Whitefield Railway Station level crossing. Much went wrong. Latest finish date: 2009.
The construction of the Whitefield Railway over Bridge (ROB) started in 2006 and has been going at a snail’s pace, making it a source of worry for commuters and others alike. According to the contractor Soham Engineering Works, the work has been held up due to the escalating prices of steel and cement as well as technical difficulties in design. At present only 65 percent of the physical work is done. But the Railways and the contractor are optimistic that it will be done by early next year.
