I have always wondered what does the State Pollution department works on. Most of the new vehicles that come into the roads like CArs, bikes, scooters, Vans don't make much noise or emit smoke. However the Auto are not kept a cap on by the authorities. They make so much of noise & emit smoke. Recently I had been to Dharmasthala & Kukke Subramanya & to my surprise found that the autorickshaws over there don't contribute to noise pollution. Can't we do something about this? I guess educating the Auto Union would be the best place to start with.

I guess the noise is because of old two stroke engines. Have you heard a Yamaha Rx100 pass by? That also has a two stroke engine.
May be levying heavy taxes on vehicles having two stroke engines can help solve the noise pollution problem.

There is already a report from reliable sources that we Indians are very happy with loud noises. Be it Autos, Motor Bikes, three wheelers, TV, crackers, festivals, public speeches, temple functions etc have contributed to deafness in large numbers in India. Corporations/TMCs will have to enforce strict regulations for atleast future citizens.
