Is Caging Animals and Birds Love? A recent visit to the Bannerghatta National Park with my friends left me heart-broken. Walking through the Zoo, the caged animals did not look at all happy. Despite the fact that numerous 'famous' people have adopted some of the animals and birds, yet these creatures live in a miserable state, in conditions that don't seem in any way to suit their natural needs. There is not a blade of green grass inside most cages, some of which have bare cement floors and lack even a bowl of water. Most of the cages are miserably diminutive. The idea of a ‘zoo’ is a selfish concept created by humans to satisfy themselves at the cost of the freedom of the lovely creatures of Nature. I wonder if 'famous' people 'adopting' animals and then caging them in virtual prisons is at all justifiable? This is, to my mind, no way to express one's love for animals and birds. Will the National Park authorities please reflect on this? Nigar Ataulla nigarataulla@gmail.com
