I haven't paid property tax since 2007 for the apartment I own/stay and have khatha for. I have few questions: (1) While approaching BBMP for paying taxes, the officer indicated that I will have to pay it as a tenant unless I provide electricity bill or such for all the years; to prove that I stayed there. Is this a valid argument? Is there any such rule/guideline? (2) I cannot pay tax now at Bangalore One. Is there anyone (or any agency) who can provide help (for a charge)? (3) Also what is the penalty (or action from BBMP) if I don't pay taxes?
