Sir, While BMTC is trying their best to woo commuters, it is very unfortunate that their conductors' behavior leave much to be desired. While there are two seats reserved for Sr.Citizens, conductors seldom come to their rescue to get it vacated for intended purpose especially during peak hours. To add insult to injury, they insist on Sr. Citizen age proof card issued by the Social Welfare Dept. to avail 25% concession on ticket fare. The GO accepts DL, Voters ID, PAN card, Passport etc. as age proof, due to sheer ignorance of the rule, conductors harass those who are eligible for concession. In order to avoid disputes and confrontations, it will do good if you have a small sticker next to the Sr. Citizens reserved seats with following instructions in Kannada and English. Sr. Citizens may carry any of the following as age proof. 1. Driving License 2. Voters' ID 3.PAN Card 4. Passport 5. Social Welfare Dept. ID card. This will make BMTC more user-friendly. we as commuters are not aware a conductor on an average has to interact with 3000 persons in his shift with al sorts of individuals in addition to keeping vigil on boarding/alighting passengers. A very tough job for poor salary he gets(extra not counted!) They are generally from lowest middle class with lot o social problems. This does not mean they need to behave arrogant and irresponsible. All said and done, sr citizens deserve proper attention in our society for all that they have contributed to be what we are today.
